Introducing CiftC to GMALSP

Last Wednesday morning, I attended a meeting of the Greater Manchester Archives and Local Studies Partnership (GMALSP) in Manchester Town Hall with Research Associate Jennie Vickers. The GMALSP partners include representatives from archives and local studies libraries across all ten (10) Greater Manchester boroughs.

It was a great opportunity to introduce the ‘Coming in from the Cold’ project. Jennie delivered a short presentation and the group showed lots of interest. Moreover, we were pleased to notice that ‘CiftC’ had been included in GMALSP’s development plan.

We hope that GMALSP representatives will feed back on lists of identified Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) projects and provide further details about them. This will help us to produce our audit of existing BME archives and oral histories as comprehensive as possible.

Personally, as I am new to the field of archives, I found the overall meeting very interesting. I was able to learn more about the scope of archives and local studies in Greater Manchester.
